Correctly sized receivers.

It is important to consider the cost saving of correctly sizing an air receiver for your system. Smaller receivers are often installed by businesses as a way of reducing capital cost. This can create inefficiencies in the operation of the compressed air equipment that far outweigh any cost saved at purchase. A receiver that is to small will cause the air compressor to cycle too frequently, this will lead to a marked increase in maintenance, wear & tear and energy cost. A correctly sized receiver is economic option that repays time and time again. Ask our sales engineers to size a receiver for your system today.

Most portable diesel compressors, old rotary screws, vanes and reciprocating compressors do not have aftercoolers. Large air receivers also have the benefit of acting as an aftercooler to remove condensate from the air. The longer the air is allowed to sit in the air receiver, the more condensate that will drop to the bottom of the air receiver to be drained off before entering your plant. Condensate that will damage equipment. Bigger air receivers have a bigger surface area which allows more heat to dissapate out of the compressed air which helps with the first stage of condensate removal.

Bigger air receivers will, pay you back many times over their life due to a decrease in power usage, maintenance, wear and tear and a longer lasting system.

Options

Talk to our engineers to help you correctly size your air receiver. Options that will go onto the air receiver include:

  • Safety valve - The safety valve must be sized for the total amount of air that can possibly be passed through the tank, in your particular installation. This means it may be sized differently for every given plant.
  • Autodrains - Come in all shapes and sizes. See our auto drain page for the one to suit you or talk to our engineers for a recommendation.
  • Port Sizes - We can supply them with threaded ports or flanges - whatever size or quantity you require.
  • Manual Drains to be used in conjunction with the auto drain.
  • By-pass pipes to allow receiver inspections while the plant is still working.
  • Gauge isolating valves to allow gauge replacement while the plant is working.
