PET Bottle Blowing Compressed Air

Southern Cross Compressors are one the most knowledgable compressor businesses in the Southern Hemisphere for installing and servicing PET Bottle Blowing Air Compressors. PETContainerLookingIn

PET Bottle Blowing requires very high pressure air to expand the bottle in the mould. Typical air compressors operate at around 8 to 10 Bar. PET compressors need to deliver compressed air at around 35 Bar to 40 Bar.

Southern Cross Compressors have PET Air Compressor installations that service Coca Cola and Visy. We have access to all of the major PET Air Compressor solutions including booster sets through to dedicated compressor sets.

The biggest cost with PET compressed air is the ongoing power bill - way above your initial air compressor set purchase price. Please talk to us to get the right advice.

Things we will need to know include:

  • Location eg. Melbourne, Brisbane, etc where the compressor will be installed. (Ambient air temperature affects compressed air output significantly at high pressures);
  • Total air capacity required - m3/hr? (Confirm the PET machine manufacturer advised in writing the air capacity requirement?);
  • Pressure requirement;
  • Air volume - neck of bottle to solenoid valve;
  • Production capacity - number of bottles / bottle size (litres) / per second or per minute;
  • Production timeframes - eg. Monday to Friday 24 hours per day Saturday and Sunday production;
  • Air compressor cooling requirements. Water or Air cooled;
  • Is a cooling tower available and if so how much spare capacity has it got?
  • How much available water flow do you have?

There are a huge number of traps that you can fall into with PET Compressors so make sure that you talk to us to get unbiased advice on the best system for your plant. Many of the larger compressor companies can only sell the equipment that their businesses offer.  We have access to all the brands that specialise in PET compressor equipment including:

  • Bellis & Morcom
  • Tanabe
  • Alkin Boosters
  • BOGE
  • Ateliers Francois

We can supply you the spare parts to service your PET compressors if we do not have a service team near your compressor.
PET Compressors can use a lot of spare parts and this coupled with power consumption can be a substantial cost.  The skill of the system engineer is to come up with clever solutions that produce the air for far less than would be perceived as conventional.  Southern Cross have this experience.

We have a containerised PET 40Bar compressor set that we can place on short term hire if you need it:

  • complete compressor installation all mounted in a 20 ft container.
  • container is fitted with new flouro lights.
  • own switchboard with circuit breakers and all equipment is pre wired into this.
  • new-correctly engineered vents throughout the container walls with a (new) cooling fan that draws air through the container to ensure it can operate fully loaded in tropical temperatures
  • There is a “ground up” 100% rebuilt 212 cfm or 360m3/Hr Atlas Copco screw compressor as the base load machine.
  • The air runs out of this into an air dryer and 2 new line filters
  • From here it goes into its’ own new LP air receiver at 7 bar.
  • Out of the LP receiver it can split into either of two brand new 40 bar reciprocating boosters.
  • The boosters are set up with alternating cycles – one works this time, and then rests while the second does the next cycle.
  • Work is evenly shared between both boosters.
  • Once the air leaves the boosters, it again runs through a second (new) HP air dryer this time, and then through Stainless Steel HP filters.
  • There is then a new HP air receiver and a new water cooled aftercooler fitted.
  • Finally the air travels through new stainless steel pipe-work to the outside of the container.
  • Every item that needs to be drained is plumbed into copper drain lines that are mounted out of harms way and then run to the outside of the container.
  • In short, this is a complete plant room of equipment with even a standby booster fitted.
  • It has been designed to give 3 deg C pressure dewpoint air at 40 bar.
  • It has also been designed to be completely self contained and completely portable.
  • Installation consists of connecting power to a central point, air outlet connection and drain line connection.
